TIP: Comfortable Gardening: Regrow Veggies with water & sunshine and its ready to eat! Read how

Here are four vegetables that only need one week of water and sunshine to regrow to a point where you can use them. You should change the water when it gets cloudy, but otherwise, this method requires barely any effort. Just chop, regrow, repeat:

Romaine lettuce
Reserve about 3 inches of the butt of the lettuce. Place, bottom down, in a a cozy mug or bowl that will allow the lettuce to lean without falling over, will hold enough water to cover the bottom half of the lettuce, and will allow sunlight to reach the lettuce. Fill with water until the bottom half of the lettuce is submerged. Put the container in a sunny window. You should see growth by the next day, and you may even have enough to cook with in one week. What’s more, bok choy and celery can be regrown in a similar fashion.

Scallions
Chop off the green part of the scallion, using it however you’d like, but leave about an inch of the white bottom intact. Put the stubs in a narrow drinking glass or shot glass so the scallions can lean without falling over. Make sure the container you choose is clear, allowing sunlight to hit the scallion roots. Fill the glass with a bit of water, and place the container in a sunny spot. You should see some exciting growth after a couple of days. One blogger said she bought a bunch of four scallions and has been regrowing and reusing them for two years. Leeks will regrow just as easily as scallions when treated the same way.

Fennel
Fennel has such a strong taste that you don’t need more than a few snips of fronds from the bulb to add to salads, dressings, and stocks. Therefore, keeping a bulb on-hand in your kitchen windowsill works perfectly. Place the bulb in a mug or bowl that can hold enough water to cover the bottom half of the bulb while still allowing light to hit it. Fill with an inch or so of water. After one week in a sunny spot, green shoots will sprout from the top.

Carrot Greens
You can reserve the tops of carrots and regrow greens from them. Just chop off the tops of the carrots, leaving about a half-inch to an inch of the top. Place in a shallow container, add water, and put in a sunny spot. After a week, you should see some strong carrot greens. And really, all members of the turnip family (beets, turnips, parsnips) can regrow their greens this way, not just carrots.

Stop Bullying at School. Know the Signs that Your Child is being Bullied. Read below:

1.  He’s having difficulties at home, in school, and beyond. When a child is struggling with his emotions, he tends to behave badly across the board  — say, by talking back to his teacher at school, hitting his siblings, and not listening to his coach.
2.  She’s suddenly isolating herself from friends. Friendships change over time and some kids enjoy larger peer groups than others, but if she’s avoiding friends it’s a red flag. Be on the lookout for statements such as, “Everyone hates me” or “I’m a loser” or “I have no friends.”
3.  He’s regressing. Here’s the thing: Kids tend to regress when there’s a major change in their lives, such as the birth of a new sibling, a move, or a divorce between their parents. But, things like bedwetting, clingy behavior, whining, excessive fearfulness, and tantrums that aren’t related to a change (or these behaviors are happening for more than a month after a big change) signal a problem.
4.  She’s incredibly sad and worried. All kids have worries at times and all kids cry. That’s part of childhood. But, worrying isn’t normal if it’s interfering with her ability to go to school or take care of herself.
5.  His sleep habits and/or appetite has changed. Worrisome symptoms include trouble falling or staying asleep, nightmares, eating too much or too little, and excessive headaches and stomachaches.
6.  She’s developed self-destructive behaviors. This can be a difficult one, because sometimes kids do bang their heads against things without intent to harm themselves. Repeated self-destructive behavior, however, is an issue–like, if she’s digging her nails into skin to try to cause pain, or cutting or hitting herself.
7.  He talks about death, or thinks about it repeatedly. It’s normal if he talks about dying and how he might die as he explores the concept of death, but repeated talk about death and dying is a red flag.  Watch out for statements about suicide (in kid language, of course) or killing others. Any talk about suicide or killing another person requires the help of an expert…immediately.

After age 3, our social behavior depends mostly on previously laid down neural brain tracts based on our past experiences. We respond as if on autopilot and usually do not even realize that consciously. These neural pathways develop sheathes of a chemical called myelin, which greatly increases the speed of nerve impulse conduction. These automatic behavior tendencies can be over-ruled by the thinking part of the brain - the cerebral cortex - but are nonetheless very powerful.The behavior of primary attachment figures like parents are the most potent triggers for automatic behavior throughout our entire lifetimes. WELLNESS TIP: Cooked Mushrooms have higher amounts of niacin, potassium and zinc

TRY THIS RECIPE: Cooker Mushroom Barley Risotto Ingredients 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1 large onion, finely chopped Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper 1 pound cremini mushrooms, sliced 1 ½ cups pearl barley 4 sprigs fresh thyme 8 ounces carrots, finely chopped 3 cups lower-sodium vegetable broth 1 ounce Parmesan, grated (2/3 cup) 1 tablespoon sherry vinegar ¼ cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley Directions Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and 1/8 teaspoon each salt and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned, about 2 minutes. Stir in the barley and thyme and cook, stirring, until the barley is just golden, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a 6-quart slow cooker and add the carrots, broth, 1 ½ cups water and ¼ teaspoon salt. Cover and cook on high until the liquid is absorbed and the carrots and barley are tender, about 3 hours. Discard the thyme and stir in the Parmesan, vinegar, ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Thin out the risotto with warm water for desired consistency as needed. Top with parsley and season to taste with salt and pepper.

MILLENNIALS: Language barrier is what concerns millennials the most while traveling

Once they’re on vacation, the younger generation is less impressed with luxury and more interested in finding adventure and embracing new cultures. It also appears that millennials travelers are less fearful. Overall, 38 percent of respondents cited personal safety as their biggest concern while traveling abroad. Yet for millennials, 18 percent were more concerned about language barriers and 11 percent were worried about natural disasters. These numbers were significantly higher when compared to older travelers.

MILLENNIALS engage in "Voluntourism", which is usually a budget-conscious way to travel

For many, travel comes down to money, and it certainly appears that members of Generation Y know how to take a trip on a budget. Thirty-three percent of those surveyed said that they spend $1,000-$4,999 on a vacation, while 68 percent of millennials are more likely to spend less than $1,000 per trip. Older travelers keep a savings account for a rainy day; millennials are more likely to take the money they’ve saved and spend it on a trip. They are also more likely to engage in voluntourism, which is usually a budget-conscious way to travel.

Millennials like to get out of town. Two-thirds of all respondents said that they had traveled in the last six months — bravo! But when we looked at the results, respondents ages 18-34 were more likely to have taken a trip in the last week. You go, millennials! Overall, when it comes to booking a trip, 48 percent of people go to friends or family for recommendations. We know you have good intentions (and that you just want the job to be done right), but when you do this, you’re undermining your husband. He’ll interpret this behavior as you thinking he can’t do anything or that everything always has to be your way. Also, if you continue to “re-do” all his attempts at housework, I assure you, he’ll stop helping altogether. 4. Spending more time on the Internet than you do with each other. Who gives a flying f*ck what Henry Dewhurst is doing since you left high school? Does it matter that he’s sailed around the world and now runs XYZ business in NYC? Nope. Hint: It’s not normal to spend more time looking at wedding photos of a wedding you weren’t invited to than you do with your family. So if you’re spending more of your life talking to people you used to know or even worse, have never met, than hanging with your spouse, what pray tell are you doing?! Ban iphones and technology from the bedroom (we know, it’s hard) and watch your sex life (and marriage!) miraculously improve. 5. Canceling date night over and over again. Yup, we all have deadlines. We all have draconian bosses breathing down our necks - and yes, there will always be good reason to cancel date night - especially if the sitter lets you down again. But do so at your peril because postponing one-on-one time is symbolic of where your marriage is in your list of priorities. If you’d rather attend a Zumba class than have a glass of wine with your husband, that’s a red flag. Your relationship is sacred; treat it as such. 6. Paying more attention to your kids than him. How many moms do you know who shower their kids with affection and give their husbands a quick pat on the back when he swoops in for a kiss? Remembering to stop and give each other actual physical affection - not just a requisite peck on the cheek - is the sign of a healthy relationship. When you spend day in/day out with someone, it’s easy to neglect them. The mundane goings-on of daily life take precedent and by the time you get the kids to bed and collapse on the sofa, showing any kind of affection feels like an extra chore. But here’s a secret: Do. It. Anyway. Affection, leading or not leading to sex, cannot be overstated. 7. Never quite losing the baby weight. It may be controversial, but letting yourself go physically when you get comfortable with someone is a sure-fire way to send you partner looking elsewhere. When they met you, you were 23 with great abs but three kids and twenty years later, well, things don’t quite look the same. We get it; life happens. But looking after your own appearance means you feel good about yourself which in turn, means they feel good about you too. The brutal truth is you need to move your ass off the couch and down to the gym. You cared about your ass before, so why not now? Becoming lazy after you’ve hooked your catch isn’t a sexy look for anyone. 8. Never saying ‘thanks.’ My husband often feels like he deserves a medal every time he puts a load of wash in. (Never mind that I separated the wash, put it in the dryer, and spent hours folding it.) I want to stab him in the eyes when he expects validation for a relatively simple task but I give it to him anyway. Why? Because at least he did it. And when he feels empowered, BONUS: he might just do something else, like grocery shopping or cleaning the fridge. By thanking him, I’m saying: “I see you, I acknowledge you.” Likewise, he should be thanking you, too. Otherwise there’s a tendency to start playing the ‘who did more’ game, which quickly leads to resentment. The more grateful you are, the more likely he’ll do more. Trust me. 9. Spending too much time with your side of the family. Yes, we all know the guilt-trip moms are capable of if you aren’t home to celebrate Thanksgiving but just for once, ask your other half what they would like to do for the holidays. By pleasing your parents more than your spouse, you’re slowly poisoning your relationship and we hate to break it to you, hubby’s probably had enough of your Dad talking about his golf swing and your Mom droning on about her recent knee surgery. Here’s an idea: Instead of going to Gram and Gramps, ask them to come stay and spend time with the kids while you two get away, together!

Alzheimer’s disease may not be just for grandparents to worry about: Groundbreaking new research from Northwestern University has found that amyloid protein — a hallmark of the devastating disease — starts accumulating in brain neurons of people as young as 20 years old. Scientists believe this is the first time that such changes have been noted in human brains so young. In the study, lead researcher Changiz Geula and his team from the Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease Center at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and team analyzed neurons from the brains of 13 “normal” young people ages 20 to 66; 16 people ages 70 to 99 without dementia; and 21 people with Alzheimer’s, ages 60 to 95.

WELLNESS TIP: Mediterranean Diet is Good for your Heart. Eat Fruits, Veggies and Whole Grains

Researchers gathered data from 2,500 Greek adults age 18 and 89 from 2001 to 2012. Participants also provided a wealth of information on their lifestyle, medical history and dietary habits before the study began, five years into the research and again at the end of the study. Participants’ adherence to the Med diet was scored on a 1 to 55 scale. Taking into account other factors that would affect risk, those who earned marks in the top third had a 47 percent lower chance of getting heart disease over the 10-year period compared to those who fell in the bottom third. Each one-point increase or decrease in the adherence score resulted in a roughly three percent fluctuation in heart disease risk.

WELLNESS TIP: No-Meat but Complete Source of Proteins for Vegetarians. Eat and Be Nourished

MILLENNIALS / GEN Y: Denmark is world's most connected country: study

Denmark has overtaken South Korea as the world's top country for cellphone and Internet use, a study released Monday said. In third place was Sweden, followed by Iceland and Britain, emphasising European dominance in the connectivity stakes, according to the International Telecommunication Union, a leading analyst for information and communication technologies, or ICTs. Hong Kong led Asia, in ninth place in the world rankings, and the United States came 14th. The Central African Republic was last, part of a long list of African countries bringing up the tail of the list. The International Telecommunications Union's ICT development index takes into account Internet and mobile phone access and use, and the population's competence with the technology. "Over three billion people are now online and information and communication technology growth remains buoyant in just about every country worldwide," the report said. Developing countries are well behind, but catching up, with Internet usage in 2014 growing 8.7 percent, compared to 3.3 percent in the richer nations. However, of the 4.3 billion people still unconnected, 90 percent of them are in developing countries, the study found. That should change, according to the organisers. Read the Bible to Get Financial Advice and Guidelines on Money Management

1 Timothy 6:9-11
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
We often hear “Money is the root of all evil” but we forget the phrase from the verse, “the love of money” and its true context. Money could be the root of all evil but more so of the lack of it. Many people are trapped into the temptation of excessive money and lavish lifestyle, more than what really one needs. With that, people get the impression that money is always bad – it’s not. Money should be an instrument to give you and your family a good life and help other people to feel the same way.

Proverbs 3:9-10

“Honor the LORD from your wealth and from the first of all your produce”
This means a proper allocation of your wealth. Obligate a portion for your needs, a portion for your savings and most importantly commit a tenth of your income to the Church or your place of worship. Also, it is said that the more money you make, the more you should give. The more spend on yourself, the more you should give for charity.

“Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles, but the one who gathers by labor increases it.”
If you get money from gambling, fraud and taking advantage others, you will suffer; but will be blessed if you get money out of your hard work. It is important to understand that lying, cheating and taking advantage of people are not good income channels but honest and hard work will lead to unconsciously increasing wealth.

“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”
Careful planning is also important to building your wealth – it leads to prosperity. If you prosper financially, you have the bigger responsibility of teaching people how to fish, and later on prosper with you. The study followed up on previous research which showed similar impacts for Facebook and raises questions about whether social network use in general is bad for relationships.
The study appearing in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking found that "active Twitter use leads to greater amounts of Twitter-related conflict among romantic partners, which in turn leads to infidelity, breakup, and divorce."
The author, University of Missouri doctoral researcher Russell Clayton, concluded that these findings add to the evidence about social network use's dark side for personal relationships.
Clayton's research published in the same journal last year found that a high level of Facebook usage was associated with "negative relationship outcomes."
The journal's editor-in-chief Brenda Wiederhold said these findings highlight the need for more study on social network use."

Whether it’s managing their company’s organization, brand, products, customer experience, operations, finances, whatever, business leaders spend most of their time managing. Leadership is a skill set. Manage is what they do. 



Strategize. In the old days, the big buzzword was invention. Then it was innovation. Now it’s improvement. Whatever. If you want to lead in business, you have to come up with a unique solution to a big problem that people are willing to pay for. You can call that Sylvester if you like, but I call it strategy. 



Create culture. The root of the word culture is cult. Steve Jobs created a unique, cult-like culture at Apple. Likewise John Mackey at Whole Foods and the original Trader Joe … Joe Coulombe, that is. Inspire. We all need inspiration at times, but real leaders are usually inspired by their lives, which typically revolve around work and family. And since their job is to inspire and motivate others, they tend to have a pretty big source of it inside. If you’re in constant need of inspiration, you’re probably not leadership material.



Prioritize. Before everyone became so obsessed with personal improvement, productivity, and time management, real executives and business leaders learned to prioritize their time. And they prioritize their organization’s time by setting direction and goals, as well. That’s how the work gets done on time.



Juggle. No matter how well you prioritize or delegate, when your business is growing, you’ve got to keep a lot of balls up in the air. And if you’re not growing, you’re stagnating. For CEOs, especially in high-growth industries, multitasking is just a way of life … and I don’t mean tweeting while watching a YouTube video.



Plan, execute, adapt. There’s a three-part cycle to operating just about any business: plan, execute, adapt. In the beginning it’s mostly ad-hoc, but the bigger a company gets and the faster it needs to scale, the more formalized its operating processes must be.



Make smart decisions. Life is full of decisions but the vast majority – like what to eat for dinner or which phone to buy – aren’t super critical. Business is not the same because, unlike food choices, competitive markets are essentially zero-sum games. The bigger your title, the more critical your decisions. Great leaders make smart decisions.



Win. Just about any type of human performance is described by a bell-curve. Every field has its top performers, its bottom performers, and everything in between. Leadership is no different. Good leaders win more than they lose. Great leaders consistently beat the competition. That’s just what they do, and they do it better than anyone else.



Bottom line: Leaders lead and followers follow. It’s not complicated – you’re either one or the other. Which are you?"
